Newsletter No 47 November 2011
Newsletter Extra
Thank you to everyone who attended the lecture on Tuesday 15th November given by Joanna Jeffreys. Joanna is an experienced teacher with expertise in teaching dyslexics to read. However, after her lecture some of the committee felt confused about the difference between synthetic and analytical phonics.
With the aim of clarifying the terminology I refer you to the Wikipedia website which has descriptions and examples of synthetic, analytical and systematic phonics and the history of the use of phonics in the UK.

We may visit this topic again in more detail. Please let me know of other topics you would like for future lectures.
I would like to apologies to our members who usually receive the Newsletter through the post. Owing to illness the postal version of Newsletter number 46 was not distributed. I will ensure that this does not happen again as we value your support.
